New Job

How is the new job?

I started a new job in Newton (30 miles N of Wichita) in October. Things are going well, and the hours and pay are a lot better than what I had before. It is a marketing position for a manufacturing company. The products my company makes aid our customers in the production of their products. Because of the nature of our products, we are able to target any manufacturer in the world. My position is 1/2 of the company’s marketing team, and does not involve selling. It does require a lot of business sense and technical knowledge.

I hated the job at first (now I’m just neutral because the commute) and considered quitting after my first few days because there was absolutely no training. I was expected to know everything and to immediately pick up where the previous person left off. (The previous guy was a technical genius, but apparently had no business sense. He was also the only person to know how to do the job since he created the position and left no documentation behind.) I am a quick learner and had a lot of help learning about the company from the department secretary. Things should be fine until I have to start traveling.
